Questions and Answers
Q: I just put in the unlock code and still get the startup
dialog saying my version is unregistered.
A: You have more then one copy of CopyPaste installed in
your System Folder. The easiest solution is to use find file
type in CopyPaste highlight all the found items and put them
in a folder on your desktop. Restart (you should see no
dialog for CopyPaste) then reinstall by dragging the latest
version of CopyPaste on top of the System Folder where it
will ask if it can go into the Extension Folder, say yes and
Restart.
Q: Is there a way to copy something to the regular Mac clipboard
without using CopyPaste?
A: Yes, either type command + c + c (double c) or hold down
the ctrl or option or shift key while selecting Copy from the
menubar. This means you can use CopyPaste even with
applications that misbehave with the clipboard.
Q: I want to buy CopyPaste by credit card but don't feel the
internet is safe.
A: There are several options but first we feel the internet
is safer then any gas station or department store where one
might use a credit card. Also we have never had any problem
but if you want another method here are a few. One way is to
use stuffit to compress the registration form and put a
password on the compressed file (also using stuffit) then
send us the password or you can add 100 to the account
number and email it and tell me its encrypted with julian
encryption. or you can call me at 916 546 9005 to leave your
info on our secure answering machine or with me personally.
Q: When I turn on the FKeys they don't work with CopyPaste.
A: If you use QuickKeys you must turn off the QuickKeys that
use F1, F2, F3
Q: Commands in programs like Quark, Pagemaker and HyperCard
that use the control key are not working.
A: Turn off Tag and Drop in the CopyPaste Preferences (it is
off by default) and they will all work.
Q: The save clipboards thru restarts sounds good to me how
do i get it to work?
A: First, the program must be registered. Second, go to the
CopyPaste preferences and turn on the 'Restore Clipboards'
item.
Q: Is there an easier way to get at the text utilties then
thru that long Copy menu?
A: Yes, there are two ways. First turn on the Utilities Menu
in the CopyPaste preferences. This will put the utilities
menu at the bottom of the Edit menu where it is handier.
Second, after using a text, picture or date utility once it
can be used again with command c e
Also it can now be accessed via the CopyPaste palette.
Q: How can I have those help dialogs printed out so its
easier to use and see.
A: Open the help dialog and click the save as text button
then choose a font size and print. It is basically the same
material as that found in the quickstart read me document.
Q: Is there an easy way to bring up the CopyPaste Palette?
A: Yes, command+c+p or command+c+click
Q: When i use Word to do a calculation i get an incorrect answer.
A: The reason is that Word uses the clipboard without notifying
CopyPaste and when the request to paste the main clipboard comes
CopyPaste complies with what was the last clip its aware of.
The answer is to either:
1. Make sure that the most recent clipboard you used is the default one
(copy anything without number), then make your calculations. No exchange is
needed.
2. Press any of the modifier key while you select paste from the menu. this
disables CopyPaste temporarly and will paste the main clipboard without
exchange.
